April showers bring spectacular May wild flowers…
Spring is in the air in the Yampa Valley! After a terrific winter with above average snow fall, the Valley is slowly turning towards spring. After experiencing beautiful sunny days with temperatures in the 60s the grass is starting to turn green and the flowers are starting to bloom.
Town has quieted down after the busy winter season and now is the perfect time to experience some favorite mud season events.

First Friday Artwalk:
May 3rd
A Steamboat local favorite on the first Friday of each month head downtown for a self guided tour of some of Steamboat’s art galleries and participating restaurants. Each stop along the tour showcases art from local artists and serves wine and other refreshments. While there is no charge for this event, donations are accepted to allow galleries to continue their support for this wonderful Steamboat tradition.
Kentucky Derby
May 4th
Celebrate the Kentucky Derby in true Steamboat fashion. Get dressed in your best Derby gear, over the top hats encouraged. Several downtown restaurants including Otto Pint and Carl’s Tavern will be hosting Derby parties and featuring specialty drinks.
Spring Festival
May 4th
Hosted by Yampatika, the Spring Festival is a wonderful reason to get outside and enjoy nature. Featuring a multitude of educational activities and gardening lessons, this is the perfect event for kids of all ages.
Cabaret: We’re Gonna Need a Bigger Boat
May 9th thru the 11th
A fantastic Steamboat tradition, the Cabaret, is an event the locals look forward to each and every year. Bringing together music, stand-up comedy, and skits, the Cabaret is a hilarious roast of Steamboat and the people who live here.
Cornhole Classic
May 18th
Head over to the Steamboat Tennis Center for the Cornhole Classic, a spring fundraiser benefiting the Steamboat Rotary Club. Whether you decide to play or spectate, you’ll be sure to have a great time while supporting an even greater cause.
Sidewalk Sales
May 24th thru the 27th
What better way to kick off Memorial Day weekend than with the annual Spring Sidewalk Sale? Stroll downtown as all the stores roll out their sale racks and spend the day finding great steals on outdoor apparel and more.
