Joel Moore and his outdoor-loving family of five make the most of life in Steamboat and at The Porches.
If you want to know what it’s like to own at The Porches, just ask one of our owners—they’re the ones who really know what it’s like to live here. We caught up with Joel Moore to talk skiing, craftsmanship, and why everyone loves our staff so much.
What brought you to Steamboat?
We bought a stay at the Porches through a charity auction two years ago and that is where our love story with Steamboat started.
What is it you love most about this area?
I think most of all we love Steamboat’s down-to-earth, laid back atmosphere. Steamboat has so many amenities and activities that everyone in our family can enjoy. My wife and I have 3 daughters ages 13, 11 and 9. We all love the outdoors and Colorado has been hot spot for us to hit winter and summer. We are a family that loves exploring and outdoor adventures together.
What are some of your favorite activities?
Skiing is high on our list! We are really looking forward to this summer, though; hiking, fly fishing, mountain biking, tubing, golf, tennis, exploring … and I am sure we will find other activities to get into as well!
What is it that attracted you to The Porches?
It really was the service, location and quality of craftsmanship. The first time we stayed on property I was blown away by how helpful the staff on site was, they really make it feel like a family there at The Porches. The private shuttle and location to the mountain is outstanding. The Barn is a fantastic attraction to have on site. And I really cannot say enough about the staff and how eager they are to help and assist with anything that they can… We are thrilled to have found Steamboat and The Porches.
