A town known for our celebrations, there is no better place to create holiday traditions.
The Yampa Valley is laden with snow and the twinkle lights around town can be seen for miles. It’s one of the most magical times of year in Steamboat and one you won’t want to miss. If you’ll be travelling to Steamboat this year for the holidays, or want to get a jump-start on planning next year, we have created the ultimate guide so you don’t miss a thing.
A holiday spent away from home does not mean sacrificing all the things that make this time of year so special. We have gathered all of our tips and suggestions so you can continue all your family traditions and maybe even start a few new ones.
Deck the halls…
First things first, a tree
There are plenty of wonderful options around town for purchasing live Christmas trees. Whether you want to pick one out from the store or have one delivered from one of our Christmas décor companies, you’re sure to have a tree you’ll love. For the adventurers, you can also pick up a permit from the US Forest office and head to Rabbit Ears or Buffalo Pass to find a tree. This is a great way to enjoy the outdoors and break out the snowshoes.
Next up are decorations
From garland to wreaths to ornaments, there is not a single piece of décor overlooked by our Christmas décor companies. Place an order through our concierge and when you arrive at your Porches home, you’ll enter into a Christmas wonderland. For the do-it-yourself types, we can also arrange to have a box of ornaments and other decorations left in your home for you to decorate as a family.
Lending Santa a helping hand…
Arranging an entire Christmas spent away from home may seem daunting, but here at The Porches, our wonderful concierge and staff are here for you each step of the way.
Ship it
We understand the importance of travelling light. We recommend having all of your gifts shipped to us ahead of time and we’ll make sure they are in your home awaiting your arrival, out of sight from little ones of course. Once the holiday is over, we’ll even help arrange having everything sent to it’s new home.
Relax and enjoy…
The holiday season is an important time to spend with loved ones and that’s why our staff goes above and beyond to ensure you can spend quality time with your family while we take care of the rest.
We’ve decked the halls, the presents are wrapped, it’s time to snuggle around the fire reading Christmas stories, playing games, and sharing memories. Our concierge is happy to stock your fridge, make dinner reservations, or have a fully cooked meal brought to you. Whatever your family traditions, we are here to help make sure they continue.
Speaking of traditions be sure to join us in the Barn for our annual holiday party. Offering tasty, catered appetizers, wine, beer, and cookie decorating. It’s a wonderful opportunity to celebrate and meet other owners and guests in our community.
Can’t Miss Steamboat Moments…
Santa’s horseback parade: Gather in Gondola Square for the annual holiday festival. True to Steamboat’s Western heritage, Santa rides through on his horse. You know Dancer, and Prancer but what about Rupert and Blitzen? Steamboat’s favorite reindeer will be there also.
Torchlight Parade & Fireworks: Ring in the New Year in Gondola Square with a torchlight parade and fireworks show. This is a great event for the whole family! If you’re lucky you may even be able to see the fireworks right from your Porches home.
